One question I am often asked is: “Can somebody else put a curse on me?”
In different cultures and places around the world, there are people who believe in sending curses, bad prayers or negative energy towards others. Sometimes people are even directly told, “I have cursed you.”
Recently, I helped five different people who believed they had been cursed. Yet in all the years I have been doing this work, I have never come across a curse that I believe is genuinely working against somebody.
What I have seen, however, is just how powerful the fear of a curse can become.
A Curse Has Power When You Give It Power
Imagine somebody tells you that they have cursed you.
You may initially think:
“What a load of rubbish. I don’t believe in any of that.”
Then a week later, your car breaks down.
Something goes wrong at work.
You lose some money, have an argument with somebody or simply go through a difficult period in your life.
Suddenly, a little thought enters your mind:
“What if it is the curse?”
That doubt is where the problem can begin.
You start connecting completely ordinary problems in life with the curse you’ve been told about. The next time something goes wrong, the belief becomes a little stronger.
Before long, you can begin living your life waiting for the next bad thing to happen.
In that sense, you are bringing the curse to life yourself through fear.
Can Somebody Send a Bad Spirit to You?
Another concern I regularly hear is that somebody has deliberately sent a bad spirit to attach itself to another person.
In all my years of working with spirits, I have never come across a case where somebody has been able to simply “send” a bad spirit to attach itself to another person.
That’s not how it works.
Of the people I recently helped who believed they had been cursed, most didn’t have a spirit with them at all.
The real problem was the fear created by somebody telling them that they had been cursed.
Don’t Allow Someone Else to Make You a Victim
Unfortunately, it is often kind, caring and loving people who become the targets of this sort of behaviour.
The world can sometimes describe these people as “soft”, but I don’t see them that way at all. I believe kindness, love and understanding are signs of advancement.
But bullies can sometimes mistake kindness for weakness.
Whether we are talking about a bully here in the physical world or a negative spirit, the principle can be very similar.
They want you to become frightened.
They want that little seed of doubt to enter your mind.
Once you understand that, you can stop giving it power.
Ask Your Loved Ones in Spirit to Draw Close
This may sound incredibly simple, but it is something I regularly tell people who come to me frightened about curses or negative influences.
Ask your loved ones in spirit to draw close to you.
Ask your guardian angel to draw close.
Your loved ones haven’t stopped loving you simply because they have passed into the spirit world. They still care about you and want to help you in whatever way they can.
When you ask them to draw closer, they can bring their love, strength, understanding and protection around you.
Several of the people I recently spoke to have already contacted me again to say how much better they feel simply by changing the way they approach the situation.
Instead of thinking:
“Somebody has cursed me. What is going to happen to me?”
Change your thinking.
Stand tall.
Ask your loved ones to draw close and remind yourself that you are in charge of your own life.
Don’t Pay Someone to Remove a Curse
One of the dangers of believing you have been cursed is that it can leave you vulnerable to people who claim they can remove it – usually in return for money.
You might begin thinking:
“Perhaps I should pay somebody to take this curse away.”
Please be extremely careful.
If somebody has frightened you into believing that something terrible will happen unless you pay them to remove a curse, don’t allow that fear to control you.
In all the cases I have dealt with over many years, I have never found a curse that has this sort of power.
Walk Past the Bully With a Smile
I recently spoke to a lady who was frightened of somebody in the physical world whom she believed had cursed her.
My advice was simple.
Don’t act like their victim.
Be strong.
Ask your loved ones to draw close to you. Allow yourself to feel their love and support. Then, if you encounter the person who has tried to frighten you, walk past them with your head held high and a smile on your face.
You are showing them – and reminding yourself – that they don’t control you.
You Are in Charge of Your Own Life
There are beliefs surrounding curses, the occult and negative spiritual practices all over the world.
But after all my years working as a medium and dealing with ghosts, spirits and people frightened by these experiences, I have never found a curse that can control somebody who refuses to give it that power.
Use your free will.
Don’t allow fear to take control of your life.
Ask your loved ones in spirit to draw close to you. Ask for their love, strength and support.
Most importantly, don’t live your life as somebody else’s victim.
Love is the key to everything.
Whatever negativity somebody tries to direct towards you, don’t feed it with fear. Stand tall, surround yourself with love and remember that your life belongs to you.
