Have You Really Been Cursed? A Medium’s Perspective on Fear, Free Will and Spiritual Protection

Over the years, I’ve spoken to many people who genuinely believe they have been cursed. More recently, I’ve noticed a significant increase in people contacting me with exactly the same concern. Some believe they’ve been the victim of voodoo, others think a cult has targeted them, and some have even been handed a note by another person claiming they have been cursed.

Naturally, this can be terrifying.

When people are frightened and don’t know what to believe, it’s easy for every difficulty in life to suddenly seem connected to this supposed curse. Every setback, every illness, every piece of bad luck becomes another piece of “evidence” that something dark is controlling their life.

But in the vast majority of the cases I’ve dealt with recently, there has been no curse at all.

How Fear Can Become the Real Problem

One thing I have learned through my work as a medium is that fear is incredibly powerful.

If someone convinces you that you’ve been cursed, your mind naturally starts looking for proof. Every time something goes wrong, you begin asking yourself:

“Was that the curse?”

“Is this why my life isn’t going well?”

“Has something evil happened to me?”

This reaction is completely understandable. We are all human.

But often, the fear itself becomes far more damaging than anything else.

The same principle applies when dealing with negative spiritual influences. Fear gives them far more attention and power in our minds than they deserve.

Bullies Thrive on Fear

Whether we’re talking about people in the physical world or negative spiritual influences, one thing remains the same.

Bullies look for kind, caring people.

If you’re compassionate, loving and naturally trusting, you can sometimes become an easy target for those who want to frighten or manipulate you.

Some people will deliberately try to convince others that they have special powers over them. They may claim they can curse you or control your life.

Don’t give them that power.

The moment you believe someone else controls your destiny, you begin handing over something incredibly valuable: your confidence.

Remember the Greatest Gift You Have

The greatest gift every one of us has is free will.

You are far more in control of your life than you may realise.

No one can take away your ability to choose how you respond, how you think, and who you allow to influence your life.

That is where your true strength lies.

Your Loved Ones Can Help

Many people ask me why their loved ones in spirit don’t simply step in and stop bad things happening.

The answer comes back to free will.

Those who love us in spirit respect our choices. They cannot force themselves into our lives.

But when we ask…

Everything changes.

If you ask your loved ones in spirit to draw close to you, they can offer:

  • Protection
  • Confidence
  • Comfort
  • Strength
  • Encouragement
  • A sense of peace

They cannot live your life for you, but they can walk beside you.

Sometimes, simply asking is enough to help you feel that support.

We’re all guilty of trying to carry life’s burdens on our own—I certainly am—but asking for help is never a sign of weakness.

A Difficult Life Doesn’t Mean You’ve Been Cursed

One of the saddest things I hear is people looking back over years of hardship and wondering if they’ve somehow been cursed all along.

I don’t believe that’s what’s happening.

Life on Earth is a school.

Every challenge teaches us something.

Every hardship develops compassion.

Every disappointment helps us understand others who are suffering.

The people who have experienced the greatest struggles often become the very people who can offer the greatest comfort to others because they’ve truly walked that path themselves.

What Really Matters

From the perspective of spirit, our time on Earth is incredibly short.

The experiences we gain here shape who we become beyond this life.

When I work with spirit through clairvoyance or during my teaching, those who have passed often speak about the lessons they learned and, sometimes, the opportunities they wished they had taken.

Very rarely do they speak about money, possessions or easy lives.

Instead, they value growth.

If life handed us everything without challenge, what would we actually learn?

Our experiences—both joyful and painful—are what help us grow spiritually.

Don’t Live as a Victim

If someone tells you that you’ve been cursed, don’t surrender your power to fear.

Instead:

  • Remember that you have free will.
  • Ask your loved ones in spirit to draw close and support you.
  • Don’t allow fear to dictate your life.
  • Recognise that hardships are not proof of a curse—they are often opportunities for growth.

Above all, don’t allow bullies, whether physical or spiritual, to convince you that they control your future.

They don’t.

You are stronger than you think.

And with the support of those who love you, both here and in the spirit world, you can face life’s challenges with confidence, knowing that no curse is more powerful than your own free will.
