One of the things that genuinely worries me, based on what I come across time and time again in my work, is the number of people who seem to have what I would call a spirit attachment.
Over many years of helping people, I have met countless individuals who feel something is simply “not right” in their lives. Sometimes they describe a constant heaviness, a change in personality, overwhelming negative thoughts, or behaviour that feels unlike themselves. In some cases, after working with them spiritually, it has become clear that they may have attracted a spirit that has attached itself to them.
Now, I understand this may sound strange to some people. I am not saying every problem in life is spiritual — far from it. We all experience difficulties, mental health struggles, stress, grief and emotional challenges. But I do believe there are occasions where a spiritual influence may be playing a part.
How Do Spirit Attachments Happen?
One of the most common ways I see this happen is when people unknowingly open themselves up spiritually without protection.
This often occurs when people experiment with things such as Ouija boards or attend unprotected spiritual circles. People are naturally curious, and many simply want reassurance from the spirit world or to feel close to loved ones who have passed. But opening yourself up without knowledge, guidance, or protection can sometimes attract energies you were never intending to connect with.
Spirit, like people here on Earth, comes in all forms.
Not every soul is kind, peaceful, or ready to move on.
Some spirits remain close to the earth plane by choice. Some are confused souls who can be helped to move on, while others can be disruptive, unpleasant, or, in some cases, what many people would describe as darker energies.
The Risk of Being “Naturally Sensitive”
Something I have noticed more frequently in recent years is people who are very spiritually sensitive but have never had proper training.
They may describe themselves as a “natural medium” or say they often sense things around them. Sensitivity itself is not a problem — many people are naturally intuitive — but the difficulty comes when someone senses a presence and automatically assumes it must be something loving or positive.
Unfortunately, that is not always the case.
In my experience, some spirits are not what they first appear to be. Much like people in this world, not everyone has good intentions. Some energies can present themselves as comforting or helpful at first, only to draw someone closer.
This is where free will becomes important.
If someone willingly invites a presence in, even unknowingly, they may be allowing something into their space that is not beneficial to them.
The Effects of Spirit Attachment
Over the years, I have helped many people who, without realising it, had been living with a spirit attachment for years — sometimes even decades.
The impact can vary from person to person. Some experience emotional heaviness, fear, negativity, sudden changes in behaviour, or a feeling that they are simply not themselves.
Many of the spirits I encounter are, in simple terms, bullies. They thrive on fear, confusion, or emotional vulnerability.
What concerns me most is wondering how many people may be silently struggling without understanding why.
Some people seek help because they instinctively know something feels wrong. Others may never even consider a spiritual cause because they do not believe in life after death or spirit at all — and of course, that is entirely their choice.
But occasionally, I do wonder whether some people spend years believing something is deeply wrong with them, when part of the problem could actually be spiritual in nature.
Can Spirit Attachments Be Removed?
The good news is yes — in my experience, spirit attachments can be removed.
Over many decades of helping people, I have encountered all sorts of situations, including very difficult cases, and thankfully I have always been able to help.
However, one important part of the process is what happens afterwards.
Sometimes people receive help, but then unintentionally reopen themselves to the same thing again. They return to unsafe spiritual practices, ignore advice, or continue inviting unknown energies into their space.
Thankfully this is uncommon, but it does happen.
The Importance of Common Sense
If there is one thing I would say to anyone exploring spirituality, mediumship, or communication with spirit, it is this:
Use your common sense.
If something does not feel right, step away from it.
Not everything spiritual is safe simply because it feels mysterious or exciting. Proper guidance, protection, and experience matter.
There is a beautiful, loving side to the spirit world — I see it every day. But just as in life, it is important to approach things wisely and carefully.
If you are ever unsure about something, it is always better to keep your distance than risk opening yourself up to something you do not fully understand.
