Can You Ever See Someone Who Has Passed… As They Really Were?

One of the questions I’ve been asked more and more recently is this:

Can you ever actually see someone who has passed—just as they were when they were alive?

Not sensing them… not feeling their presence…
But physically seeing them, as you would see any other person.

Sensing vs Seeing

In most cases, the way I work as a medium is through sensing.

When I give a reading or speak in front of people, I may sense a room full of spirit. If I’m with someone, I may be aware of a person standing beside them in spirit, and I can describe them, their personality, their life.

But I am not seeing them in the same way you are seeing me now.

It is a different kind of awareness.

But Can It Ever Happen Physically?

The answer is yes… but it is very rare.

There are occasions—unusual moments—where someone in spirit can be seen just as they were in life.

Over the years, I’ve come across a few examples of this, and they are always fascinating.

A Visit at the Office

Many years ago, when my office was based at Birdworld, something quite unexpected happened.

I was working inside, and next to me was a lady I employed. She was looking out of the window when suddenly she said:

“There’s a man walking up the driveway…”

Then, almost immediately, she screamed:

“He’s gone… he’s gone!”

I must admit, I did laugh a little—I’m quite used to these things.

But when she described the man, I realised it was my father.

He had a very distinctive way of dressing, and there was no doubt about it. He had walked that same path many times when he was alive.

What was interesting was this:
it seemed as though he suddenly realised he was being seen—and then disappeared.

A Brother at the End of the Bed

Another case involved a lady who had recently lost her brother.

About a week after his passing, she woke up to find him standing at the end of her bed.

Not as a presence… not as a feeling…
But clearly—just as we would see each other.

Naturally, she was very shaken.

Then, suddenly, he reacted—as if surprised—and disappeared.

When she came to see me, she was worried. She thought something must be wrong, that he hadn’t moved on.

But there was no problem at all.

He had simply come to visit his sister.

The most likely explanation is that he wasn’t expecting to be seen.

The Circle Experience

The third example happened during a circle many years ago.

A young lady had joined us for the first time, so everything was new to her. She had been told that one of my uncles might come through, possibly with one or two younger men.

During the circle, she clearly saw two young men walk in with him.

Throughout the entire evening, she believed every chair in the room was occupied.

At the end, she asked:

“Where has that person gone?”

From her perspective, someone had been sitting there the whole time.

What’s interesting here is that she didn’t question it during the circle—she had been told to expect something unusual, so she simply accepted it.

That experience opened her mind to the reality that there is far more around us than we normally realise.

Why Does This Happen?

I cannot give you a complete explanation as to why these moments occur.

But from what I have seen, there is a common thread:

In many cases, spirit does not expect to be seen.

When that awareness happens—when they realise they are visible—it often seems to come as a surprise to them as much as it does to us.

So, Can You See Them Again?

To answer the question simply:

Yes, it is possible to see someone who has passed exactly as they were… but it is very rare.

Most of the time, spirit is experienced through sensing, feeling, and knowing—not through physical sight.

But occasionally, just occasionally…
the two worlds come close enough for us to see.

And when that happens, it reminds us of something very important:

We are never truly alone.
